COMMUNITY BASED PROBATION INTERN

Salary: Volunteer
Position Summary:
The position involves assisting the probation officers in the supervision of probationers.
Working Conditions:
This work involves minimal risk to personal safety due to limited contact with probationers. The schedule will be flexible between Monday - Friday anytime between 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. The amount of hours worked are based on the college credit hours you wish to obtain. Typically this is around 15 - 20 hours per week.
Essential Responsibilities:

Send probationers various letters for the probation officers

Send restitution or court costs to the appropriate entity as needed

Prepare various release from probation orders
-
Drug screen probationers as needed
-
Enter new case files into the software client database
-
Make various phone calls to the courts, jails and treatment locations
-
Other duties as assigned to assist probation officers in the supervision of their caseload
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to organize, prioritize and work with little supervision

Ability to effectively communicate with the staff and Public
-
Computer proficiency in Word
Minimum Requirements:

Preferably a Senior in College

Must pass pre-internship criminal history background check

Be drug free

DRUG TREATMENT COURT INTERN
​Salary: Volunteer
Position Summary:
The position involves assisting the Probation Officer, Surveillance Officer and/or Treatment Providers who work for the Drug Court Programs. The intern may focus on the Juvenile or Adult Drug Court Program and may design their internship to be built around the probation or treatment aspect of the program.
Working Conditions:
This work involves moderate risk to personal safety due to contact with criminal offenders. The schedule will be flexible, and may include weekend and evening hours. The amount of hours worked are based on the requirements of the college and the amount of credit hours you wish to obtain. Typically, this is 15-20 hours per week.
Essential Responsibilities:

Drug and alcohol screen participants as needed
-
Accompany Surveillance Officers on home visits
-
Observe Court Status Call Hearings
-
Assist Probation Officer with the supervision of participants
-
Help to prepare the docket for weekly court hearings
-
Observe substance abuse treatment groups
-
Assist in the monitoring of community service work assigned to participants
-
Other duties as assigned to by Drug Court staff

Minimum Requirements:

Preferably a Senior in College or Master's level student

PRETRIAL SERVICES INTERN
​Salary: Volunteer
Position Summary:
The position involves assisting the pretrial case managers in the investigation of individuals detained prior to arraignment and in the supervision of individuals released on bond pending trial.
Working Conditions:
This work involves minimal risk to personal safety due to limited contact with individuals' accused of a crime. The schedule will be flexible between Monday - Friday anytime between 7:00 am - 4:30 pm and between 8:00 pm and 6:00 am. The amount of hours worked are based on the college credit hours you wish to obtain. Typically this is around 15 - 20 hours per week.
Essential Responsibilities:

Interpret criminal history records and verify convictions

Update and maintain information using the Supreme Court Case Management Computer, Pretrial and jail based software

Conduct offender check-ins
-
Drug screen offenders as needed

Enter new case files into the pretrial database

Make various phone calls to the courts, jails and treatment locations
-
Other duties as assigned to assist pretrial case managers in the supervision of their caseload
